The form with which people may nominate a candidate can be found at the menu: Nominate.

Please review the technical requirements page for the best user experience before you begin to complete the form.  Please also note that before you begin, you will need to have at hand the information listed below about the candidate you intend to nominate. Site sessions are 45 minutes, so we recommend not attempting to compose answers on the site, only to have the form time you out and you lose your inputs.  Please have the text already written for the longer answers to the questions calling for information about the candidate, their qualities, etc., and copy and paste that text into the relevant fields.

Please complete the form in English in upper and lower case, NOT in all caps.  Nominations submitted in all capital letters will be administratively declined.

Additionally, please review the selection criteria that will be applied, and ensure your candidate meets the age, nationality and other requirements to ensure they will not be administratively eliminated before the process even begins.

Information to have on hand ahead of time about the candidate you wish to nominate:

  • How long you've known the candidate in years.
  • A few lines explaining how you know the candidate that you are nominating.  Please put all important reasons why this candidate is strong in the last field, titled Brief Comments motivating your Nomination of the Candidate, NOT here. This field is solely to establish your relationship to the candidate.
  • Full name of candidate in this format - First name - Last name/surname.  Please do not use all caps for a name or names.
  • A working personal email address for the candidate.  Do not use a work email address, as the nominee will receive automated emails from this site about their nomination and the application process.  From past experience, AFLI is aware that many corporate email servers will decline to deliver these emails.  As a result, your candidate may never know they have been nominated, nor are they likely to receive follow-up emails.
  • Their age in years - note the age cutoff for candidates. In short, they should be between the age of 30 and 39.
  • Their nationality
  • Where they are living now
  • Their job title or what it is they do
  • Have you contacted the person to check if they wish to be nominated?  We ask this question to prevent multiple nominations of a candidate. Only one is required and multiple nominations is unnecessary. Nominees that flood our system with multiple nominations will be administratively declined for consideration of the programme for abuse. See our page on this at Multiple Nominations.
  • Any factors that the nominator is aware of that may inhibit or prevent them from participating fully in the two intensive workshops on two continents, as well as required programme work between the workshops.
  • An explanation of what makes this candidate such a special and successful leader. The form will not accept more than 2,700 characters, which is roughly 400 words. Please do not copy and paste their CV or bio, but provide selectors with personal insights they could not otherwise obtain. Do not add external links here, they will not be followed. In your nomination, provide concrete examples of achievements that show why they are an excellent candidate rather than telling us they are excellent. We assume already that because they are being nominated that they are outstanding.  Our selectors need to be able to understand from your nomination how and why they are.
